Admissions at The Nest – Daycare at Portway

Expressions of Interest are processed in the order they are received, within each relevant age group. Please note that we are unable to reserve places without a completed formal contract and deposit.

The Application and Offer Process

1. Explore Our Website
  • Find all the information you need about The Nest Daycare at Portway.
2. Book a Visit
  • Come and see the setting in person to decide if it’s right for your child.
3. Submit an Expression of Interest
4. Complete the Application

When a place becomes available, submit your application along with required documents:

        • Birth certificate or passport
        • Proof of address
        • Red medical book
5. Sign Contract & Pay Fees
  • Pay a £50 non-refundable registration fee and a £250 refundable deposit.
  • All fees must be paid one month before your child starts.

Admissions Criteria

We will apply the admissions criteria below to determine which applicants get priority. Children in the lower priority groups will not be offered a place unless all the children in the group or groups higher have been offered a place.

  • Priority 1: Looked after children/ A child known by the local authority to have special educational needs and/or a disability (SEND) and whose needs can be best met at the preferred daycare/ A vulnerable child with either a Child Protection or a Child in Need Plan, or in receipt of other local authority support
  • Priority  2: Families who take up an 8-6 place 5 days a week
  • Priority 3: Children of NCL staff members
  • Priority  4: Children with siblings already in The Nest Daycare at Portway and / or children attending a NCL Primary School. 
  • Priority  5: Waiting list (in date order)

Important:

A place at The Nest – Daycare at Portway does not guarantee admission to Reception at Portway Primary School or any other school. Like all early years provisions, applications to full-time education must be made through your local authority in line with their admissions procedures.
