We follow the Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which sets the standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to 5 years old.

Communication and Language
At The Nest, communication and language sit at the heart of our approach — because when children can express themselves, they can connect, learn, and thrive.
We use the evidence-based SHREC framework from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), which focuses on Sustained Shared Thinking, High-Quality Interactions, Responsive Engagement, and Communication. This ensures that every conversation becomes an opportunity to build vocabulary, deepen understanding, and strengthen relationships.
Every child is screened early to identify their individual needs. Our universal offer includes daily storytelling, language-rich play, and intentional adult-child interactions. Where needed, children access targeted support and intervention, including specialist input from private speech and language therapists.
This layered approach ensures that all children — whatever their starting point — are supported to become confident communicators, ready for school and beyond.
